Digital Security Helpline 2024: Safeguarding Voices, Defending Rights

As online threats grow more sophisticated, the Digital Security Helpline remains a lifeline for individuals facing technology-facilitated gender based violence (TFGBV), privacy violations, and digital security breaches. In its 8th year now, the Helpline has been at the forefront of supporting targets of online abuse, providing technical assistance, legal guidance, and psychological support to those in need. We have worked with journalists, human rights defenders, women, children, and marginalized communities over the world to protect their online presence, and sometimes, consequently their physical safety.

This past year, the helpline received 3,171 incident requests reflecting the urgent need for stronger digital protections. From gendered disinformation campaigns to NCII and AI generated images during elections and privacy invasions, the report highlights the evolving nature of digital threats in Pakistan. The 2024 Helpline Report offers in-depth analysis, case studies, and insights into how online spaces are becoming both more dangerous and more essential for marginalized voices.
